The Power of Showing Up at Covenant Schools

At Covenant Schools, every day a student walks through the door and moves closer to graduation  is a victory worth celebrating. Showing up, whether in the classroom, in virtual sessions, or in life, is where success begins. For many of our students, getting to school isn’t always easy. They balance jobs, family responsibilities, and personal challenges, yet they continue to show up for themselves and their futures. Each time they do, our staff takes notice. We’re proud, inspired, and reminded of the strength it takes to keep moving forward. When students choose to show up, they remind us why our work matters and why every effort counts.

Showing up means more than just attendance, it’s an act of perseverance. It’s a statement that says, “I’m still trying.” Each time a student takes that step, they’re building habits that go far beyond academics. They’re developing resilience, consistency, and the belief that progress happens one day at a time.

“The greatest gift we can give someone is our guidance, our time, and the belief that they are capable of more than they imagine.” says Margaret Lee, Attendance & Engagement Interventionist at Covenant Schools East Campus. “Our goal is to make sure our students don’t have to choose between their education and their personal responsibilities. Here, they can do both.” Her work goes beyond encouraging students! She actively seeks out the resources they need, whether it’s tutoring, transportation, or counseling, to ensure they can balance school with their personal responsibilities. She supports students in navigating challenges at home and in school, helping them problem-solve and build a plan that allows them to succeed academically while managing their other obligations.

At Covenant Schools, we understand that attendance is deeply connected to support. That’s why our team works to remove barriers, offering flexible schedules, personalized encouragement, and resources that help students stay engaged and connected.

The power of showing up is transformative. It’s in the student who arrives early to catch up on work, the parent who logs into class after putting their child to bed, and the young adult who keeps coming back after setbacks. Each one proves that being present is the first step toward achieving something greater.

This school year, we celebrate the courage it takes to keep showing up. Because at Covenant Schools, we know that success doesn’t happen overnight;, it happens every day a student chooses to try!
